How many minutes do you spend on your baby’s nighttime routine before finally putting him/her to bed?

Are you supposed to do the routine until baby gets sleepy? Or do you just do it for a set amount of time and then put them down to bed even if they are still awake?

It’s different each night. But, usually a bath around 6:30 or so, and then a cup of milk and rocking at around 7ish. Sometimes my daughter (19mo) is asleep by 7:10. Others, like tonight, she wasn’t asleep until almost 9.

I have always either rocked, or laid with my daughter until she is asleep. So, I my daughter has never went to sleep without me.
